A Holiday Home That Learned to Welcome
The Beginning
Some places you visit. Others, you belong to.
In August 2023, Fahad built a house by the sea. It was never meant to be a hotel — or even a business. It was a holiday home: a place for family, for slow monsoon afternoons, for the kind of quiet you can only find where the backwaters meet the sea.
But something unexpected happened once the house was finished. Friends asked to stay. Then friends of friends. Then strangers who had heard about “the house between the river and the sea.” And an idea — born in the minds of Fahad and Siraj — took shape: what if this home, and the coast it stands on, could be shared?
So we opened the gates. Then, together with Najeeb, we raised new houses among the palms — each one built slowly, shaped around the land, and made to listen to the sea. Today, the entire collection is cared for by Najah, who keeps every home, every garden, and every guest exactly where they should be: at peace.
How We Build
Every home at Marina Escapes was made the way the coast asked to be treated.
Our waterfront tiny home rose from reclaimed timber — each beam carrying a former life. Our villas were shaped around the coconut palms, never against them. Solar panels catch the same sun that warms the sand; rain is gathered, not wasted.
And when it comes to what we throw away — we throw away almost nothing. Every piece of plastic on our properties is collected and recycled in partnership with our local Panchayat, the village government body. What the sea gives us, we do not give back as waste.
We did not import luxury to this coast. We discovered the coast had been luxurious all along — and our only job was to protect it.
What We Believe
We believe luxury is not marble and chandeliers. It is silence at dawn, broken only by waves. It is a fisherman who knows your name by the second morning. It is a meal cooked by hands that grew up eating it.
We believe travel should slow you down, not speed you up. We believe a home should belong to its landscape — not dominate it. We believe hospitality is not a service. It is a welcome.
And we believe the rarest gift a place can give a traveler is not a view. It is the feeling of being, however briefly, from somewhere.
The Homes
Today, Marina Escapes is a family of sanctuaries, each with its own character:
Marina Beach & Backwaters — our eco-friendly tiny home, cradled between river and sea.
Villa Marina — our grand coastal estate. And here is its secret: you may have it whole — five bedrooms, private pool, private beach — or in part, as Villa Marina I, the intimate two-bedroom garden sanctuary, or Villa Marina II, the airy three-bedroom palm retreat. One soul; three ways to stay.
Four doors. One coastline. One promise: where the river embraces the sea, you will find yourself embraced too.
The People
Behind every stay stands a village of hands.
Najah, who manages it all with a calm that guests swear is contagious. Mr. Jiban and his family, who keep the Villa Marina estates blooming, spotless, and full of small kindnesses. Mr. Nizar, who watches over Marina Beach & Backwaters like a lighthouse keeper tends his light. Our chefs, who turn the morning’s catch into feasts on banana leaf. The fishermen of Valiyaparamba who guide our guests across the water at sunrise.
When you stay with us, your visit sustains local livelihoods and local pride. Tourism here is not an industry imposed on the village — it is the village, welcoming you in.
The Welcome
Every stay begins exactly the way it began in August 2023:
The gates open with a smile — and a cold glass of limeade in your hand.
That is the whole philosophy, really. Everything else is just the sea, keeping time.
An Invitation
Come as a guest. Leave as family. Return as a friend.
The hammock is waiting. The limeade is chilled.
